Course Overview

This 50-hour module explores the dynamics of counselor-client relationships across individual, group, and family counseling modalities. Students gain practical experience through role-playing, live video breakout groups, and family group facilitations. The course covers evidence-based therapeutic approaches including Motivational Interviewing, Reality Therapy, Rational Emotive Therapy (RET), Brief Therapy, and cognitive-behavioral techniques — all applied specifically to substance use disorder treatment contexts.
